Forehead/Brow-lift cosmetic surgery
The Forehead area is often overlooked when evaluating a person for the signs of aging. Not only does the patient not consider it important, some surgeons do not give the forehead and brow position, the respect it deserves. Yet Leonardo Da Vinci, gave it as much importance as the other two thirds of the face. Often, the forehead and eyebrows can be rejuvenated with cosmetic non-surgical efforts using a variety of other techniques, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, Restylane, collagen, dedicated skin care and skin resurfacing. When forehead cosmetic surgery is part of the solution, the endoscope can be introduced and the forehead and eyebrow areas rejuvenated with only small incisions and very little 'down time'. The endoscope (a small camera), when used, can be time saving and may cause less complications than a larger incision approach.
Neck-lift cosmetic surgery
A person's neck can sag at any age and the neck area can be a source of self-consciousness. Its effect on how clothes are worn can be significant. The neck can be full, from a genetic fat storage area; or be loose, secondary to excess skin or excessive weight loss. The neck area can respond well to liposculpture, or to an open neck lift cosmetic surgical technique. The choice of technique really depends upon what a person's concerns are and what their underlying problems are.
Nose reshaping (Rhinoplasty) cosmetic surgery
The nose can be one of the strongest and character assigning features of a person's face. Throughout time, people have sought to change its appearance through nasal surgery or rhinoplasty. Sometimes these rhinoplasty changes can be subtle and at other times, these rhinoplasty changes can be dramatic. When there is an airway problem, it may be covered by insurances. Dr. Michael J. Brown has limited his rhinoplasty to strictly cosmetic plastic surgery procedures. He will do septal work for harvesting of cartilage for nasal tip and nasal dorsum procedures, but does not participate with insurances for airway difficulties.
Most people are very sensitive about their nose characteristics, and to preserve their privacy, the before and after rhinoplasty surgery results are displayed on the internet are only side views with their identity hidden. Please ask to see additional before and after results of cosmetic rhinoplasty during your consultation.
Lip Augmentation
Lip fullness in today's society is a sign of beauty and youthfulness. Lip enhancement or lip augmentation, can be achieved using both non-surgical and surgical techniques. The non-surgical techniques for lip augmentation tend to be less long lasting, but are also less extensive and offer an easier recovery. Lip enhancement using injectable fillers are usually temporary. These injectable fillers like Restylane, and Juvederm, can be done quickly and may provide a nice simple lip enhancement.
The cosmetic surgical lip augmentation, using fat injection, other body tissues, or synthesized materials, tends to have a longer lasting to permanent enhancement, but take longer to recover from. Whichever lip augmentation technique is utilized, the result can be very pleasing and offer a significant improvement in the upper and lower lip fullness. Fat injection is the perfered relatively permanent treatment although it typically does require more than one treatment to obtain the desired permanent fullness.
Protruding Ear Correction (Otoplasty)
The cosmetic surgical correction for protruding ears, otoplasty, is a rewarding operation for the plastic surgeon and typically the patients are very pleased. It is well tolerated and aside from wearing a headband for a few weeks, it not too problematic. This cosmetic surgery (otoplasty) when performed on a child should be delayed until the child is at least seven years of age. It is at this age that the ear had developed to a significant percentage of the adult size.
